CHC is contracted to restore the dunes along the Eastern Coastal Revetment at Naval Station (NS) Mayport in Jacksonville, Florida. This project aims to enhance the coastal protection system, ensuring the resilience of the dunes from Hanna Park property line to the Northeastern tip of NS Mayport. CHC will excavate, screen, classify, and stockpile sand material within the dredged material management area (DMMA). Suitable sand will then be transported and placed within the dune template. Approximately 64,000 cubic yards of sand are to be placed for this dune restoration.
In addition to the dune restoration efforts, CHC was awarded supplemental work that expands the project into a full coastal protection and security enhancement initiative. This includes the procurement and installation of near-shore security barrier poles and the furnishing of the complete marine-grade security barrier system, requiring both upland and barge-based operations, vibratory hammer installation, pile jetting, pile cutting and capping, hazardous waste removal, and compliance with USACE, FDEP, and NS Mayport environmental permitting. CHC is also supplying and delivering 6,000 tons of shore lining rip rap and 3,000 tons of bedding stone to support shoreline armoring and revetment stabilization. The integrated work includes permitting coordination, environmental documentation, and regulatory notifications required for execution, resulting in a comprehensive coastal protection and base security improvement package.
