SR 23 (FIRST COAST XWAY) FROM E OF CR 2209 TO E OF CR 16A

Located in St. Johns County, Florida, this project involved critical earthwork operations for the SR 23 (First Coast Expressway) expansion from East of CR 2209 to East of CR 16A under FDOT Contract No. T2987. The scope encompassed the removal and management of approximately 174,533.7 cubic yards of subsoil excavation, including strategic separation and stockpiling of suitable fill material along the right-of-way. CHC provided and placed an equivalent volume of engineered embankment material meeting stringent FDOT specifications and standards. The project required comprehensive dewatering operations and specialized environmental controls due to proximity to Trout Creek. CHC implemented deep excavation safety protocols compliant with OSHA standards while executing all phases of this federally-funded highway construction project, contributing to enhanced mobility and safety for communities throughout Northeast Florida.
