The Georgia Ports Authority project at the Port of Savannah involved rehabilitating 2,650 linear feet of pile-supported wharf, including demolishing and replacing portions of the berth, installing new prestressed concrete piles, and upgrading electrical and utility systems for crane operations and fire protection.

CB 4-9 Berth Improvements

Georgia Ports Authority project located in the Port of Savannah included rehabilitation of approximately 2,650 LF of pile supported wharf consisting of waterside and landside crane beam and rail, fender system, mooring hardware, and utility systems. Demolition work on the waterside entailed removing the front portion of the existing berth and removal of precast concrete piles. Waterside installation work included replacing the front portion of the berth and installation of new 20-inch square prestressed concrete piles. Demolition work on the landside included selective concrete demolition to facilitate installation of 18-inch square prestressed concrete piles and crane tie-downs. Electrical work consisted of providing temporary crane power, new 13.8kV crane power feed, and 480V crane shore power connections. Other utility work included installation of piping for potable water vaults and fire protection hydrants.
