Under contract with the US Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, CHC restored 7 miles of eroded shoreline south of Port Everglades Inlet in Broward County, placing 840,000 cubic yards of sand while monitoring local wildlife to protect sensitive species.

Broward County Shore Protection Project Segment III Beach Renourishment

Contracted by the US Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, CHC was tasked with renourishing 7.0 miles of critically eroded shoreline immediately south of Port Everglades Inlet in Broward County Segment III. The project consisted of two sand placement areas: a 1.2-mile-long segment within the Mitzel-Eula Johnson State Park and a 5.8-mile-long segment within the cities of Dania, Hollywood, and Hallandale. Approximately 840,000 CY of beach sand was placed to complete this project. During all phases, local wildlife was monitored to mitigate any possible impacts to protected species.
